"Always go a little further into the water than you feel you're capable of being in.
Go a little out of your depth, and when you don't feel that your quite touching the bottom, you're just about in the right place to do something exciting."
- David Bowie
As an artist if you're feeling comfortable where you are at, then something is wrong...
You have to constantly challenge yourself. Step outside of your box. Step out in faith. Explore different ways to create art work. Exploring new mediums, new places, go outside and get inspired. If you stay in the same comfort zone, you can't expect anything other than what you have already accomplished. Refuse to be satisfied and reject contentment.
Whether you're a beginner or more experienced artist looking to refine your style or try new techniques. I encourage you to reach past what you think you are capable of doing. There is more than enough information out there to study and learn.
Expand your borders by gaining knowledge. Even if you heed Bowie's advice and find your head under water. Learn how to tread water. Moving past what feels comfortable and prove to yourself that you are capable of moving forward as an artist. Remember you were created to create.
